It was a long time coming. After years either visiting or living in New York, I’d never eaten a hot dog. Despite the many vans conveniently located on most street corners, the popular city dish had never passed my mouth. That’s all changed. I’m no longer a hot dog innocent. Alex took me to Gray’s Papaya which, despite its name, is famous for hot dogs (and papaya drinks). As I chomped into the meat-like substance, I wondered what’s in a hot dog anyway? I have to say it was hard to tell. But with enough mustard and other condiments, I put aside my worst fears and enjoyed my first hot dog in the city.
